Located in the vibrant East Village, Danny & Coop’s Cheesesteaks has quickly established itself as a must-visit for fans of this iconic sandwich. Drawing rave reviews, patrons find themselves immersed in a symphony of flavors with each bite. Customer experiences highlight the exceptional quality of the freshly baked bread and the generous portions of juicy meat, making it a worthy rival to the traditional cheesesteaks of Philadelphia.
Many visitors, like Mucahit Ege, express a sense of surprise and delight at uncovering such an authentic cheesesteak just steps away from home. The harmonious blend of savory meat and melted cheese makes for a rich, satisfying meal that keeps them coming back for more. The efficient service, highlighted by Cristina Vasquez, ensures that even during peak hours, the wait remains reasonable without compromising quality.
However, be prepared for a lively atmosphere — the restaurant's energetic vibe, with music reverberating around 94 dB, might require earplugs for those sensitive to noise. Laurel Touby's advice to mitigate the richness with pickles is wise, as each hefty sandwich could serve as a full meal on its own.
While some, like BAMM BAMM, debate the $20 price point, the consensus remains: Danny & Coop’s Cheesesteaks delivers an exceptional dining experience that is worthy of its acclaim. Whether you’re from Philly or just passing through, this joint is not to be missed.

On a rainy day in East Village , I stumbled upon Danny & Coop’s Cheesesteaks and decided to step inside. From the very first bite, one thought crossed my mind: there’s no need to go to Philadelphia anymore! The flavor, the texture, the harmony between that juicy meat and melted cheese—everything was absolutely perfect. This cheesesteak is just as authentic as the real deal. I was so impressed that I brought my spouse here a few days later—and they loved it too. Finding a taste like this in East Village was a wonderful surprise. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again!

I never thought there would be another cheesesteak that would compare to Max from Philly but Danny’s and Coop’s is really close. They are not cheap with the meat. Very flavorful. The staff is very nice and efficient. I waited 20 minutes. Pretty affordable for the amount of food I received. Definitely looking forward in returning.

Service is epic. The line wasn’t too bad. We got there at 11:20 AM and were in the first group to get sandwiches. The line was about a half a block long by 12 PM, but I estimate it would still take only about 30 minutes to get a sandwich. It’s very loud inside. Which seems to be a choice, since they are blasting the music to over 94 dB. You will need earplugs and the server can barely hear you when you order so be ready. Each sandwich fits into an egg carton, they are that big. You definitely need the acid from the pickles to cut the incredible richness of the cheese and meat combo. The bread was freshly baked, and if you want to remain crunchy, you will need to open the top of the carton, so the heat does not steam the sandwich bread. It was very delicious. I probably ate it too fast. I could have eaten just 1/2 of a sandwich and been full for the day. I highly recommend giving the other half to a homeless person in Tompkins Square Park. To our great dismay, on this lovely summer day, Bradley Cooper was nowhere in sight.

1 of the best Cheesesteak in townThe only thing i don't agree on is the price at 20 for a Cheesesteak when it should be around 10-12 because there wasn't nothing so special about it & it tasted just like some of the other Cheesesteaks i had in NYC but it was still good & i would recommend but i know some people that wouldn't want to spend 20 for it. Bradley should lower the price. #hangover

Got there right near open and waited in a small line. It moves quick and people and the staff makes it efficient. It’s easy when you only sell cheesesteaks without much alteration. The bread was baked perfectly, the meat was flavorful, and it was the perfect amount of cheese mixed in. I’m from Philly and this is right up there. It lives up to the hype. Give it a try!

Best, damn cheesecake I’ve ever had! They offer sweet or hot peppers with your order. Bun is toasted sesame, which compliments the sandwich perfectly. Everything about this sandwich is delicious. Perfect, in fact.

I came all the way from Venezuela just to eat here — and it was absolutely worth it. I didn’t get to see Bradley Cooper (maybe next time!), but I’m still leaving super happy. The sandwich was incredible — packed with flavor and done to perfection. I love that there’s only one item on the menu. It speaks volumes about how confident and consistent they are. Simplicity at its best. The vibe is authentic, the service was fast, and the experience felt like a true NYC food moment. I’ll definitely be back!

This place is everything I thought it was gonna be and more. I’ve heard a lot about this being one of the best sandwiches in the city and I have to agree. It’s a simple menu. Cheesesteak. That’s it. They automatically give u peppers on the side which are also just the right amount of spicy. The size is huge. We shared one but I honestly could eat a whole one by myself. I’ll go back and recommend to all my friends. My only thing is I wish there was seating but next time I’m taking it to the park. It’s hot and travels well as it was too hot to eat right away anyways. We went to the park after and everybody else had the same idea.
